Conditions
1. Bunions (Hallux Valgus)
A bony bump that forms at the base of the big toe, causing the toe to angle toward the other toes. Surgery involves realigning the bone and soft tissues.
2. Hammertoes
Deformity where toes bend downward at the middle joint, resembling a hammer. Surgical correction involves tendon transfers or joint fusion.
3. Plantar Fasciitis
Chronic inflammation of the plantar fascia that doesn’t respond to conservative treatment may require surgical release of the fascia.
4. Achilles Tendon Rupture
Complete or partial tears of the Achilles tendon often require surgical repair to restore function and strength.
5. Neuromas (Morton’s Neuroma)
Thickened nerve tissue between toes causing pain and numbness. Surgery involves removing the affected nerve tissue.
6. Heel Spurs
Bony growths on the heel bone that cause chronic pain may require surgical removal when conservative treatments fail.
7 Ankle and Foot Fractures
Broken bones in the ankle joint and foot joints often require surgical fixation with plates, screws, or pins to ensure proper healing.
8. Flatfoot Deformity (Adult Acquired)
Progressive collapse of the foot arch may require tendon transfers, osteotomies, or joint fusions to restore function.
9. Ankle Arthritis
Severe joint degeneration may require ankle fusion or total ankle replacement surgery.
10. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the posterior tibial nerve may require surgical decompression to relieve symptoms.
Surgical Procedures
1. Bunionectomy (Hallux Valgus Correction)
Various techniques including MIS (minimally invasive surgery), Austin, Scarf, and Lapidus procedures to realign the big toe and remove the bony prominence.
2. Hammertoe Correction
Arthroplasty, arthrodesis, or tendon transfers to straighten contracted toes, often combined with capsule releases.
3. Plantar Fascia Release
Endoscopic or open release of the plantar fascia to treat chronic plantar fasciitis, sometimes with heel spur removal.
4. Neuroma Excision
Surgical removal of Morton’s neuroma or other digital neuromas causing pain between the toes.
5. Achilles Tendon Repair
Direct repair of ruptured Achilles tendons, sometimes with augmentation using other tendons or synthetic materials.
6. Ankle Fracture Fixation (ORIF)
Open reduction and internal fixation of ankle fractures using plates, screws, and pins to restore joint alignment.
7. Tarsal Tunnel Release
Decompression of the posterior tibial nerve by releasing the flexor retinaculum in the tarsal tunnel.
8. Arthrodesis (Joint Fusion)
Fusion of various joints including subtalar, ankle, first metatarsophalangeal, and midfoot joints for arthritis or instability.
9. Soft Tissue Mass Excision
Removal of cysts, lipomas, fibromas, and other benign soft tissue masses from the foot and ankle.
10. Tendon Repair and Transfer
Repair of torn tendons and transfer of healthy tendons to restore function, commonly for posterior tibial tendon dysfunction.
